Gérard Krawczyk

French Director born in Paris in 1953.

Graduate of IDHEC, direction and cinematography, Gerard Krawczyk first made several award-winning short films. In 1986 he directed his first two feature films, I Hate Actors, a black-and-white comedy film which pays homage to 1940s American cinema, and L’été en pente douce with Pauline Lafont, Jean-Pierre Bacri, and Jacques Villeret. In 1997, since Gerard Pires was unavailable, he began the filming of the first Taxi, which was a real turning point in his career. He has directed five films produced by Luc Besson, all of which have been very successful. In 2003 he produced Fanfan with Vincent Perez and Penelope Cruz, which was screened out of competition at Cannes. Recently, he directed two episodes of an American series in New York and a documentary about Marseille.
